Reading Ambassadors
Reading Ambassadors
Our wonderful Reading Ambassadors are led by Miss Smith.
Our Reading Ambassadors Team is made up of KS2 children. They promote and share their love of reading and you will often see them with books under their arm whilst walking around school, organising our library space to keep it inviting or chatting with Miss Smith about books. Miss Smith leads the team as part of Hawthorne's commitment to Reading for Pleasure.
The Reading Ambassadors wanted to develop areas around the school that children could enjoy reading in. They supported in the theme choice of an "Alice in Wonderland" reading nook and their next project is to create an improved outdoor reading area.
Reading class swaps
On the first Friday of each half term the children get to swap classes and read with children from different classes. The classes swap each time to allow for sibling, family or friendship reading to happen. The children love a visit to or from another class in their Reading for Pleasure sessions.
Friday Library Time.
In addition to our class timetabled library sessions and the times to change our books, the library opens on a Friday morning playtime for children to come along and Read for Pleasure. Here you will find Miss Smith and the Reading Ambassadors to support the children to choose new books, to read with and to encourage a love of reading.
We hope to see you there.
