Reading For Pleasure
Reading for Pleasure!
Reading for pleasure is an important part of our ethos. We aim to build readers for life through a variety of ways. We have dedicated Reading for Pleasure time weekly, class reading time daily and these are in addition to reading lessons. Their purpose is to support and encourage the children to be life long readers; children who choose to read whenever and wherever they can. Our amazing reading ambassadors are often seen around school with their books and running reading groups in the school playground!
In addition:
We hold regular reading cafes where parents/grandparents are welcomed with the child into school to read in a social reading environment.
We hold class swap reading where different classes buddy up and enjoy reading together.
We have dedicated class library times, where children can explore a wider range of books.
We celebrate World Book Day and the local libraries reading challenges.
